We are excited to announce that observations for our MCC Foundation Hubs in Bedford, Luton and Peterborough will take place this November. This programme is separate from our current County Phase One observations and is designed to create additional opportunities for state school cricketers to train and play.
What are MCC Foundation Hubs?
The MCC Foundation runs a national network of Hubs providing free-to-access training and match play for 5,500 state-educated young cricketers at 164 sites across the UK. The Hubs focus on talent: helping players develop hard-ball skills and access formal pathways. They also have a transformational impact beyond cricket—boosting confidence, happiness, and focus, which can support performance at school and in life.
This year, players from state schools who are selected for County Age Group training squads can also be considered for MCC Foundation Hubs through the observation process. Selection for a County squad does not guarantee a place in a Hub, as selectors consider a range of factors and select across multiple year groups.
We will run a Boys’ Under 15 and a Girls’ Under 17 Hub in each location: Bedford, Luton and Peterborough. To be eligible, players must attend a state school. We particularly encourage boys in school years 9–10 and girls in school years 9–12 to apply.
Due to anticipated demand, players will be directed to the Hub closest to their home address and/or club.
