Thursday 3rd July was the annual players and parents evening, this year was held outside at Jack Hunts Secondary school. The evening consisted of a mixture of cricket coaching skills-based activities, traditional and modern-sports day events along with a cricket match with players and parents playing against each other and with each other.
The evening started with a fitness cone warm up game which involves youngsters and adults completing a series of challenges and then go for a cone, it continued with a balance activity of balancing a cone on your head and walking 50 meters and if it fell off you had to go back to where you started from. Other activities included a 3-minute sprint test where you ran as many laps as you could then tagged your friend who then ran as many laps as they could before moving on. We also had as many catches and bounce catches as you could do in a minute, along with the underarm throw and overarm standing throw competition, followed by a cricket match to finish and refreshments afterwards. It was a great evening, bringing parent and players together from different backgrounds and cultures from across the city of Peterborough. Outdoor Wicketz girl’s sessions continue every Thursday at Jack Hunt from 7 – 8.30pm, for 8 – 14 year olds, contact JB for more info.
