Cricket, Community and Memories: Peterborough Wicketz Enjoy Two Inspiring Summer Tours
From competitive matches to engaging workshops, the Malvern and Repton experiences brought young people together on and off the pitch.
In the week commencing the 18th August, Peterborough Wicketz enjoyed two fantastic touring opportunities, travelling to Malvern College and Repton School. Both trips were filled with cricket, laughter, and new experiences, bringing young people together to make special memories that will last well beyond the game.
Repton Cricket Festival
Peterborough Wicketz recently took part in the Repton Cricket Festival, a three-day residential that combined cricket, workshops, and plenty of fun.
On arrival, the group settled in with lunch before taking to the field against Devon and Hull. Away from the pitch, players got stuck into engaging workshops on Smart Sugar and Mental Health, before rounding off the evening with a friendly game of rounders and some well-earned rest.
Day two brought further cricket practice alongside more workshops, plus the chance to explore the impressive Repton School grounds and nearby historical sites.
The final day proved a real highlight as the girls delivered a brilliant performance, beating Crawley & Leicester by almost 60 runs after scoring 97 and bowling their opposition out for around 30. A celebratory barbecue lunch followed before the group made their way back to Peterborough – tired but full of pride after an unforgettable few days.
Malvern College Festival
On Monday 18th August, the Malvern College tour began for Peterborough Wicketz. Joining forces with London, they faced Luton & London in their opening fixture. Batting first, the team posted an impressive 106–3 from 10 overs, with standout contributions from M. Faizan (32) and A. Raza (27*). Despite a tight performance in the field, Luton & London edged the match with just five wickets remaining and three balls to spare.
Determined to bounce back, Peterborough & London returned stronger the following day, securing a 33-run victory. Posting 108, with another fine innings from M. Faizan (32*), they bowled with discipline to dismiss Luton & London for 75 in the final over.
Wednesday 20th brought new opponents in Luton & Glasgow. Peterborough & London set a target of 75, but despite a battling effort, Luton & Glasgow chased it down with only two balls remaining.
Alongside the exciting cricket, players took part in inspiring workshops, adding even more value and enjoyment to the tour experience.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated coaches – Natalie Durham, Besal Mon, Jonathan Bigham, Ghafor Rehman and Bash Hussain – for their hard work across both tours. Their efforts helped create unforgettable memories for an incredible group of young people.
