Bedfordshire Young Cricketers U13s Girls - Tournament Sunday 3 July
The Beds U13 Girls continued their incredible season on Sunday finishing Runner’s Up in a tournament at Haileybury College. The Girls had wins over Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire and a nail-biting tie with Huntingdonshire. Their only loss for the day was against winners Cambridgeshire.
Each match consisted of six, eight-ball overs. Girls had to retire on 25 runs and Abigail Butcher retired twice, both times on 26 runs, and in her third innings she made 21 runs while Rhiannon Douglass retired on 28 runs. Captain Alice Terry led from the front taking 4-40 across all four matches and Rhiannon finished on 2-26.
That takes the season tally to 7 wins, 3 losses and one tie.
Congratulations girls, keep up the excellent work!

Match Report by Jenni Douglass U13 Girls Manager

"After a shaky start to the day losing our first match, the girls bounced back in our second T20 match with an empathic win over Lincolnshire.
"Set a target of 107, our opening pair of Abigail Butcher and Niamh Robson chased down the runs in 12 overs with an unbroken partnership. We then continued to bat out the overs finishing on 133/1. Niamh fell just short of her maiden 50 being bowled on 48 whilst Abigail became the youngest girl to score 50 runs for Bedfordshire County, retiring on 53.
"Congratulations to both girls on an outstanding opening partnership and also to all the girls who held their heads high after being beaten comprehensively earlier in the day.
"It’s the U13s most successful season to date having won three of our four matches!"
Bedfordshire Young Cricketers U13s Girls v Huntingdonshire U13 Girls Sunday 12 May 2019
Match Report by Jenni Douglass U13 Girls Manager
"The Bedfordshire U13 Girls team started their 2019 season with a mini-tournament against Hunts U13 Girls. As we had 13 girls available and Hunts had 17, the coaches agreed to split them into three teams of 10 - one Beds, one Hunts and a mixed team the girls named ‘Hubs’ - and play 3xT15 matches.
"Beds won both their matches while Hunts won one match. This was only the second (and third!) time the Beds U13 Girls have won a County match.
"The day was played in wonderful spirit by all girls, particularly by those who were in the combined team, and all girls contributed either with bat or ball.
"Highlights of the day were:
- Abigail Butcher (Beds) with a total of 19 runs and 1 wicket
- Rhiannon Douglass (Beds) with a total of 35 runs and 2 wickets
- Emily Waterman (Hunts) with a total of 62 runs and 1 wicket
- Sophie Lawrence (Hubs) with a total of 10 runs and an amazing bowling spell of 3-1-2-4
"Congratulations to all girls for a fantastic start to the season."
