Bedfordshire County Cricket Club 2024
The 2023 season saw us win Division Two of the Eastern Division of the Championship.
We look forward to playing at the top level of National County Cricket in 2024 George Thurstance is once again our Captain; he will be supported once again by coach in Eddie Ballard.
Ian Smith continues as chair of the club. With Bob Browning as Secretary & Mark Wynn as Treasurer.
The first part of the season is T20 Cricket (we are in the same group as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Hertfordshire), successful sides go to the Super 12 round. Winners of that go to Finals Day. Middle part sees a 50 Over Competition (we are in the same group as Cumbria, Northumberland, Lincolnshire & Cambridgeshire (top two sides go into the Quarter Finals)
From July onwards we will play in the First Division of the Eastern Division of the Three-Day Championship along with Buckinghamshire, Suffolk, Lincolnshire & Staffordshire, the winner contests the National County Final against the Western Division winners.
The highlight of the season should be when we take on Kent CCC in a Showcase game at Dunstable Town CC on Tuesday 23rd July, 11 am start (50 overs a side)
Bedfordshire have won the championship twice – in 1970 and 1972 – and shared the title in 2004 after a rain affected final with Devon. Bedfordshire won the one-day competition at Lord’s in 1999 and also reached the final in 1983 and 1996.
Bedfordshire takes pride in the fact that in recent years three players who played for the county as teenagers, Monty Panesar, Alastair Cook and Graeme Swann, went on to play for England.
